Fish bait is separated into two categories, live bait and artificial bait. Artificial bait is in the form of lures which usually take advantage of a few different techniques to attract fish. In fly fishing, lures usually mimic the type of insects that are normally eaten by fish in the area. Lures often have spinners, flashy colors, or jig in the water, which draws the fish’s attention and imitates things like an injured prey. Live bait, on the other hand, is usually preferred by fish, though not necessarily the best way to catch them. Live bait can range from shrimp to leeches to worms to insects and much more.
